A company in the US has dreams of expanding into producing furniture and has recently moved into a new premises to make this a reality.
Custom homebuilder Fairweather and Associates has set up shop in a 12,000 square foot location to increase its productivity by making prefabrication faster, further use of reclaimed materials and the chance to branch out into furniture production for the first time, the North Bay Business Journal reported.
Simon Fairweather, who owns the company, told the newspaper that he believes there is an unmet demand for furniture which has been produced from reclaimed products.
"Our goal is to acquire materials that would otherwise be mulched or end up in a landfill, remanufacture the material into furnishings using local workers and breathe new life into an existing Sonoma County manufacturing facility," Mr Fairweather said.
A young designer in London has recently been producing interesting furniture of his own, crafting thin items that have been gaining the attention of many international companies.
