Cruise ship supplier to buy out furniture company

Published on: September 20, 2011 | admin

A company which supplies the furniture for cruise ships has come to the rescue of a UK firm which has gone into administration.

Pedley Furniture International, an Essex based company, went out of business at the start of the year but it has been able to carry on trading after it was obtained by MJM Marine, BBC News reported.

The cruise supplier is now thought to be in advance talks over buying the company outright.

If the deal goes through it would give MJM a bigger presence in the hotel sector, as Pedleys is one of the largest producers of hotel furniture in Europe.

MJM has also recently seen a boost to its own business, after it won the contract to work on two Stena Line ferries.

A furniture charity in Richmond is currently looking to expand its premises due to a strong increase in the demand for its products and the level of donations it is receiving.
