Furniture designer crafts minimal furniture

Published on: September 19, 2011 | admin

A young furniture designer is causing a stir in the design world for his use of materials to create small and slim-line products.

Aged just 27 years old, Benjamin Hubert is already working with a raft of international businesses, with the London Evening Standard reporting that he will be showcasing his latest range as part of a project for London Design Festival.

Some of the creations produced by the Highbury-based designer for his latest collection include a lamp which has lampshades made out of wafer-thin marble, while a table is produced with wire lattice that supports a thin ash top.

"Thin design is hard because it has to be as perfect as possible, which makes good craftsmanship essential," Mr Hubert explained.

For those more interested in traditional products, an interior designer in the US recently opened up her own antique store to sell some items which she had inherited from her mother and mother-in-law.
