Garden furniture ‘helps create an outdoor room’

Published on: April 30, 2010 | Flori Arr

Those who have just purchased wood furniture for their living room might want to turn their attention to adding some new pieces to their garden.

According to the State Journal-Register, purchasing some outdoor furniture helps you make the most of your garden during the summer months.

Speaking to the news source, Chad Kruger of US firm Marx Fireplaces and Lighting explained investing in some outdoor items is "a cheap way to [make] an addition [to] your house".

"It’s like having a great room outside," he remarked, stating outdoor furniture is often more durable than its indoor counterparts, as it needs to be able to withstand adverse weather.

Many shoppers are going for outdoor sofas, rocking chairs, love seats and loungers, Mr Kruger remarked.

His comments came after Liz Murphy of House Beautiful said Britons who do not have much space outside can still make the most of it by using window boxes or hanging baskets.

With so many styles of garden furniture around it seems strange that not more hardwood garden furniture is available.

With modern wood treatments I would have thought keeping wood furniture outdoors would be a practical solution
